Is God Cruel?
If God Had His Full Way
|
Is God good or is He cruel? That is the choice we all must make. Unfortunately, many people see all the sufferings, sorrow and pain that exists in the world, which convinces them that a Good God who had all power would never allow so much trouble to continue. And so they reject God, seeking to make their own wobbly way in this dark, wicked and treacherous world. Yes, there is mystery here as to why God limits His power on behalf of suffering humans. However, there is evidence that if God is left alone to do His work on our behalf, the results are ALWAYS to bless us and prosper us and grant continual successes and victories. Jeremiah 29:11 A beautiful example of this can be seen in Joseph, who experienced all kinds of trouble in his life. However, in the midst of every one of his setbacks, God was constantly at work to prosper, bless and favor His human servant. When Joseph experienced the setback of being sold into slavery, God went to work, giving Joseph both favor and skill that caused him to become very successful in his work. Because of God, Joseph rose through the ranks, until he was put in charge of everything that belonged to his boss. Genesis 39:1-6 When Joseph experienced the setback of being thrown into prison, God again went to work, once more releasing favor and skill that caused Joseph to gain rank, privilege and success, even in prison. Genesis 39:20-23 When Joseph experienced another setback of being betrayed by the cupbearer, God again went to work, giving Joseph the skill to interpret an important dream. As a result of God's intervention, Joseph became the Vice President of Egypt. Genesis 40:23; 41:1-40 The evidence from the life of Joseph is that God is ALWAYS working in the lives of His followers to bless them. Even when satan or sin knocks us down, God is always on the job to lift us up again. Isaiah 54:10-17 & 61:1-10 |
