Is God Cruel?
We Are God's Hands
|
It appears to be a principle that God mostly uses humans to help other humans. Although God does work many miracles in the earth, they are seldom splashy or even highly visible, and when the miracle does come, God seems to favor having one human perform the miracle for another. Even when God did the greatest outpouring of miracles in the book of Exodus, rather than just pouring out amazing judgments from a stormy sky, God instead picked a humble Moses to be his human instrument. Exodus 2:23-25 & 3:1-10 In the same way, it appears that God does work to alleviate our sufferings, but He does it through human hands. God gives us the raw materials to make medicine, but it is of no value until our researchers uncover its hidden properties. God gives our bodies the marvelous capacity to regenerate and heal itself, but He first uses doctors and surgeons to mend and treat our wounds before the healing can be complete. Therefore, if we desire for suffering to diminish in the earth, we as Christians must take up the mantle of Christ's healing work. It is OUR responsibility as Christians to minister healing wherever there is pain. Pagans who are separated from God have no authority or right to come to God for relief from their sufferings, John 9:31 but Christians DO have that right, and part of our responsibility as Sons and Daughters of God is to become Intercessors, seeking the favor of God on behalf of sinners. Ezekiel 22:30,31 & 1 Kings 13:6 & Hebrews 7:25 An Intercessor is someone who stands between God and fallen Man, becoming a bridge of healing between the two. We are Intercessors for others when we pray for them --we Christians go to the throne room of God on their behalf, to get the spiritual resources that are necessary to alleviate the sufferings of those we pray for. As Intercessors, we give of our money, our time and our labor to help the helpless. This is the sacred and holy work of every Christian, for Jesus has commanded us to care for the poor, the needy, the helpless and the hurting. Matthew 25:34-40 If suffering is to diminish in the earth, we Christians must cooperate with God by being His hands. |
