Sometimes the sufferings we Christians must endure for the cause of Christ can be almost overwhelming. In fact, it may surprise you to know that even the great Apostle Paul reached a point in his life when he states his sufferings had become totally unbearable. 2 Corinthians 1:8 For us lesser mortals, the threshold of what we think we can handle may come far sooner than what our eternal God thinks we can handle!
Well, I have some good news for you: there is a PANIC BUTTON that you can hit if ever your life of pain becomes too great for you, and that Panic Button is the Prayer of Jabez:
"Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, 'Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.'" And God granted his request." 1 Chronicles 4:10
Jabez reached a point in his life where he considered his sufferings to be totally unbearable, so he prayed for God to stop his pain, and sure enough, God did exactly that, and the torment stopped! Now, we have confidence before God that He is no respecter of persons, and He shows no favoritism, Romans 2:11 So if our Good and Compassionate God was willing to answer that prayer for Jabez, then if you say the same prayer, I am most confident that God will also stop your unbearable pain. So you do have a Panic Button from God if your pain becomes too great!
However, I would caution you to only speak the "Prayer of Jabez" in dire emergencies, because even in the real world, once a Panic Button is pushed, the mission is aborted. In the same way, the Prayer of Jabez will abort whatever mission or assignment or destiny the Lord has given you. Also remember, there is GREAT REWARD for those who endure suffering for the sake of Jesus. Matthew 5:10-12
If you ask God to stop your pain, you are also asking Him to stop your reward: so be careful. Of course, our God is kind and good, and knows that we are weak, so He has given us the gift of the "Jabez Panic Button" when we just can't take it anymore.
