If God is truly cruel, He would never leave us with a "map through the minefield." Because of the presence of satan and his demons, this earth has been ferociously booby-trapped, so that every temptation we reach out and grab comes with an explosive and deadly consequence that always results in misery, harm, suffering and even death.
If God and satan were somehow the same, as the proponents of the Cruel God Theory would have you believe, then it is ridiculous to realize that such a Cruel God would also leave lying around a Map that shows us where all the booby-traps are!
Only a Good God would give us such a life-saving Map, which is of course the Bible: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path." Psalm 119:105 It is very good news that although suffering is inevitable in this dark world, at least a Good God has given me a Map so I can avoid the deadly traps and landmines that satan sets for me. For this reason I am eager to read the Bible, so I might learn to avoid the harmful mistakes and heartaches that came upon our ancestors. Deuteronomy 11:18-25
