It can be quite scary to read of all the frightening things that are going to come upon the earth in the last days. Everywhere you turn and everywhere you look, the evil that is hidden within the heart of unrepentant man is going to become more and more evident, releasing a literal hell on earth as sinful men give physical vent to their evil thoughts. When violence comes to our communities, how can any of us survive?
It does make one pause to realize that escalating violence is an inevitable consequence of earth's future as the Holy Spirit gradually removes all restraints from off of the sin natures of the fallen human race. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-17 However, as Christians, we are given many comforting examples in the Scripture that our Constantly Alert God will always provide His followers with safety and protection.
Remember Noah? He lived in the midst of a very violent culture, a time in history that was so bloodthirsty and wicked, that God destroyed the whole earth with a flood because of their unrestrained evil. Genesis 6:5-7 As for Noah, God gave him the assignment to build an Ark of safety, which took him over a hundred years to build. During that entire time, God safely protected Noah from his violent neighbors!
When Lot lived in Sodom, he lived right smack in the middle of a city so full of lust and violence, that roving gangs of homosexuals would go out at night, looking for victims to rape and kill. Genesis 19:1-13 But, because Lot was a follower of Jehovah God, he and his family were kept safe from these violent attacks, and God even waited until Lot and his loved ones were safely removed from the wicked city before it was destroyed. Genesis 19:15-22
God has sovereignly chosen the exact time and place where you should live, work and minister. Acts 17:26 Be encouraged that God knows full well that He placed you in a dangerous place and time, but just as He protected and cared for Noah, Lot, Jacob, Elijah, David, Deborah and many others, He is fully capable of keeping you safe as you work as His servant in this dark and wicked earth.
