The Event |
8 |
God shows Amos a basket of summer fruit, as a sign that the end has come for Israel |
God says He is no longer going to put up with Israel's constant sinning |
The songs in the temple will be replaced with wailing |
The dead bodies will be many |
The dead bodies will be thrown out in silence |
God is upset over those who desire to swallow up the needy |
God is upset with those who want the Sabbath to be over so they can sell their goods |
God is upset with the businessmen who have cheating scales |
God is upset with those who buy the poor for silver, the needy for a pair of shoes, and who sell the sweepings with the wheat |
God has sworn by the pride of Jacob that He will not forget their works |
The land of Israel will tremble and everyone will mourn |
God will cause the sun to go down at noon and darkness will fall during the daytime |
God is going to turn their feasts into mourning and their songs into lamentation |
God will make the people wear sackcloth and every head will be bald |
People will mourn like for the death of their own child and it will be a bitter day |
God is going to send a famine in the land for the word of God |
People will search all over for the word of God, but they won't find it |
In that day the beautiful virgins and young men will faint from thirst |
Those who swear by the sin of Samaria will fall, never to rise again |
